Name of the Assignment: Current Event Presentation Subject: Biology Facilitator/Teacher: Ms.Wilson
Description of Work/Assignment:
Every week the class needed to complete a current event based on the specialty you chose and the content we were going over during that week. We ended up doing 4 current events, and we had to pick one of the current events that we wanted to present. You needed to include your current event, the impacts on the world, society, etc., and how the topic connects to what we've learned.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This project addresses the Civic Literacy and Engagement 21st Century Skill. Civic Literacy and Engagement is any individual or group activity addressing issues of public concern. This project can differ depending on your chosen article and specialty that you chose. However, my current event did talk about public concern. It talked about how people are trying to find a cure for COVID-19 and how they found one that doesn't work.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of my research and article that I found. I was very interested writing the current event, plus I learned about what scientist are doing to try and cure patients infected with COVID-19.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I developed this 21st Century Skill, I haven't used this 21st Century Skill before and I learned what falls under the category of this 21st Century Skill.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult thing about completing this project was figuring out how I was going to present the project to the class.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I could improve this project by being more descriptive in the 3rd and 4th slide of the presentation. I feel like I could've wrote more quality writing.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This project doesn't relate to anything I learned in the past because I haven't learned or heard about plasma before. Plus, there wasn't such thing as COVID-19 until December of 2019 when I just got introduced to what COVID-19 was.
How can you apply this to future learning?
This can apply to future learning by looking back on how long it took to be in control of COVID-19 and all of the different types of medicines scientist tried to stop COVID-19.
