Name of Assignment: Project Subject: Spanish Facilitator/Teacher: Profe
Description of Work/Assignment:
Each person chose a ionic compound (a compound that consists of a metal element and a non-metal element). I had to give information about the elements and compound creatively laid out on both sides of a white shirt. A lot of the information on the shirt were things that we have learned throughout the year (e.g. scientific notation). Then we presented the final product to our class.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This project addresses the information 21st century skill because I researched the information that was needed. I also used a new technology to print the information on the shirt. It was my first time printing on a t-shirt using a special paper called transfer paper.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of how the shirt turned out after printing it. I think it is pretty cool how I know how to print t-shirts now. I didn't ever know how easy it is to do the DIY version of printing shirts.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I improved my information 21st century skill by researching how to complete something that you have never done before. I learned that sometimes the instructions given with certain products isn't enough, you may have to watch a youtube video online to get more in depth information.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
Something that was difficult while completing the task was figuring out how I need to design everything that I would end up putting on the shirt. I had to flip everything because when I iron the paper onto the shirt, it would be face down making the image mirrored.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I could improve the work by having the correct iron. The iron we have is a little outdated, so there were less options to make it just right for the shirt printing (e.g. I had to turn off the steam on the iron, but the iron didn't have that option). If I could start over I would probably make sure I have the correct tools and also researching how to print shirts sooner.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This project relates to almost every project containing art because I was either doing something new or had to figure out how to draw/make what I wanted.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I can apply this to future learning by watching videos so I know how to do something. Instructions are good, but watching a video could give you more information on how to do something because the video shows you how to do it.
