Description of Work/Assignment:
The Final ELA Essay was a replacement of the final exam for ELA. This essay was based on the recent book that we read for quarter one called The Hate You Give. We had to include 2 topics out of the 4 topics given. This essay needed to be MLA format and unbiased for most of the topics. However, one of the topics that I chose was biased. We also needed to include 10 vocabulary words given.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This project addresses the Self-Directional Skill. Self-Directional Learning Skills involve the ability to manage learning tasks without having them directed by others. This project was self-directional, the class needed to use what they learned from the book and write about it independently. So with that being said, this project falls under the self-directional skills category.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I was proud of the content that I gave in my essay, this is because Mr.Adam was happy with my content. I felt like I gave a well written essay with the help of my dad by proof reading my essay. I felt confident before I had turned this essay in.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I improved on my 21st Century Skill with this assignment by focusing on my assignment and independently writing my essay.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult thing about completing this assignment was the essay it self. This is because you needed to have read the book to right the essay and it's an essay, they are time consuming.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I could improve on proper nouns and grammar; this is what Mr.Adam commented on my essay.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This relates to what I have learned in the past because I have written several different essay's using MLA format. This was the first essay I had done in a while and it was a nice review of how to plan an essay out and meet the MLA format standards.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I can apply this to future learning by knowing how to write a proper essay, writing more essay's will help me be better at writing in general and writing essay's.
